Who We Treat - Teenagers
The teenage years and puberty can be a challenging time both physically and psychologically, with hormonal changes and growth spurts affecting the body in many different ways. Osteopathic treatment can help the body deal with the musculoskeletal problems that may arise from these changes, particularly to the biomechanics of the spine. At the Clapham Osteopathic Practice our aim is to rectify any problem(s) and address the underlying cause(s), to make sure that there are no long lasting effects. Correcting postural strain patterns at a young age may help to prevent them becoming issues at a later stage. If a patient is particularly nervous, it is possible to see a male (John Carr) or female (Maria Sonberg) osteopath, and treatment can be done without the patient undressing (please wear loose fitting clothes). Under 18s will need to be accompanied by an adult.
Please be aware that osteopathy does not claim to cure medical conditions, however many patients find that osteopathic treatment helps to reduce pain, improve function and increase mobility.
Testimonials:
"Our son Shawn has asthma and is dyspraxic, he is also very active and hardly sleeps. A friend of ours suggested we take Shawn to see a cranial osteopath. My partner was well up for this, but I was pretty sceptical as I didn't see how it could help. To my amazement Shawn fell asleep during the first treatment! Since then he has slept up to eight hours at night, which means we can get some sleep, and incredibly the other day we had to wake him up in the morning." Mark, ShawnÂ’s father.
